Then he attended the American Academy of dramatic arts in Pasadena. In 1989, Lillard was chosen to host Nickelodeon's short-live SK8 TV program. In 1991 he moved to New York to attend The Circle In The Square Theatrical School. After a two-year stint at the prestigious school, he landed a small role in John Waters' dark suburban comedy Serial Mom(1994).

Lillard's breakthrough came in major role in 1996's Scream. Playing a homiciadal teen, his performance in the critically and commercially successful film led to a string of big-budget appearances, including Wing Commander (1999), She's All That (1999), and Thirteen Ghosts (2001). Lillard also turned in a well-recieved performance as Stevo, a lovingly satirized rebel in an all-too-straight Salt Lake City, in the indie film SLC Punk!

Lillard has founded several other theater groups including Mean Streets Ensemble (1990-1991), Summoners Ensemble (1994-1997), and Blue Sphere Alliance (1997-present).

    LOVE this guy! What girl wouldn't melt for that cute dimpled smile? He was SOOOOOO amazing In SLC Punk, and loved him in Without A Paddle as well. I would love to see him in more movies, it seems they just never use him as much as they should :(

    straight up amazing in every role he is in, he shows such emotion and gets into the character so perfectly, i have never seen a movie that i didnt like him in, even scooby doo (which was horrible) he was awesome in. by far my favorite actor.
