Steve Martin is hilarious. His "Rupert" character is probably one of the funniest things I've seen in a movie.

this was a great comedy...2 conmen try their best to out do each other to win the affections of a heiress. Very funny at times, great performance from Michael Caine. I was still laughing as it ended ..kay

Well I saw that ending coming, but it wasn't too hard to. I found everything else fairly fun to watch though.

If you're smart enough to appreciate intelligent comedy yet down to earth enough to get a laugh out of goofball antics, then you'll enjoy a simultaneous dose of both in DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS. Steve Martin is perfectly paired with Michael Caine, with the latter playing the straight man to Martin in the guise of a cultured, soft-spoken, high-class European con man. The movie milks laughs from all sorts of sources: comedy of manners, sight gags, slapstick, the grotesque, and the occasional humble joke. And perhaps best of all, this is a clean and classy film as befits its setting on the Riviera, with an old-school charm about it that brings to mind Cary Grant films or Peter Sellers comedies like "A Shot In the Dark" or "The Pink Panther."
