I think I preferred this to the Truman Show, it felt more real, more believable and had more engaging characters.
this is a pretty funny movie. But i suggest if u have over protective parents,to watch ths alone. My mom fastforwarded some parts of the movie.
It ok. I liked the Truman Show better but this is a good commentary on the boom of reality tv that has flooded the airwaves for the last few years.
It's pretty sad this movie had to suffer comparisons with both "Truman Show" and "Pleasentville" when it has its own magic to work with. It may look like a dumb, idiotic Ron Howard comedy (that redhead's name alone gives me the creeps) but it's not only an acid critic to TV audiences back in 1999 when reality shows were giving their first steps but also a hilarious comedy with great performances by Jenna Elfman, the amazing Ellen DeGeneres and Woody Harrelson. It's too sad that Elizabeth Hurley had to be in this but at least her role is too small to even be noticed. And, surprisingly, this is the only time McConaughey's charm has been effective enough to support a whole movie over his shoulders; it's not a "good" performance per se, but a role that fits him like a glove.
I have no idea if there are movies "like this one" and I don't care. This one's hilarious, compelling and wonderful. Deal with it.
This board looks lonely. Be the first to talk about "EdTV" !
