I'm a massive fan of stand up comedy but I had no idea that Ellen DeGeneres did it. I've never been a huge fan of American stand up. I guess it just never applied to me and I couldn't relate to it. But for some reason, I grabbed a couple of copies of Ellen's stuff not really knowing what to expect. I glad she's managed to change my mind about American comedy because she really was brilliant. Her jokes were easy to relate to and not just for people who live in America because her observationalist style humour isn't solely about American culture. It's about everyone's day to day life and I think that is where a lot of foreign stand up's fail to translate their comedy. Her observations about modern society were really well done and I was in fits of laughter. "-I've never had dairy, guess how old I am? -I dunno. - But guess. -30? -I'm 16, but the point is i've never had dairy." Just really obvious stuff but her wit and charm make all of it extremely funny. I now completely understand why America is so in love with this woman. I have to admit I feel it too.
