    Loretta Bell: How'd you sleep?
Ed Tom Bell: I don't know. Had dreams.
Loretta Bell: Well you got time for 'em now. Anythin' interesting?
Ed Tom Bell: They always is to the party concerned.
Loretta Bell: Ed Tom, I'll be polite.
Ed Tom Bell: Alright then. Two of 'em. Both had my father in 'em . It's peculiar. I'm older now then he ever was by twenty years. So in a sense he's the younger man. Anyway, first one I don't remember to well but it was about meeting him in town somewhere, he's gonna give me some money. I think I lost it. The second one, it was like we was both back in older times and I was on horseback goin' through the mountains of a night. Goin' through this pass in the mountains. It was cold and there was snow on the ground and he rode past me and kept on goin'. Never said nothin' goin' by. He just rode on past... and he had his blanket wrapped around him and his head down and when he rode past I seen he was carryin' fire in a horn the way people used to do and I could see the horn from the light inside of it. 'Bout the color of the moon. And in the dream I knew that he was goin' on ahead and he was fixin' to make a fire somewhere out there in all that dark and all that cold, and I knew that whenever I got there he would be there. And then I woke up.

Violence and mayhem ensue after a hunter, Llewelyn Moss stumbles upon some dead bodies, a stash of heroin and more than $2 million in cash near the Rio Grande. Nothing ever goes smoothly sometimes and before you know it he's on the run from a psychopathic cold killer.

Josh Brolin: Llewelyn Moss. An interesting guy, Josh has had a flood of movies these past few months. This role is his best yet. He plays the panicked mouse in a bid to keep his prize, in this case a cool $2 million. Some of his choices for his character were stupid but ultimately that's what makes the journey so fascinating.

Javier Bardem: Anton Chigurh. I don't know who this guy is but I've never watched such an entertaining intelligent cold villain in a film. The best villain I've seen recently in a long time. Scrap the Golden Globe he deserves an oscar for playing such a nut, such a compelling character. He does everything so cleanly, he kills at the drop of a hat. Appealed to my dark humour and i frequently laughed at stuff Anton did. For example him shooting two guys in the desert made me burst out laughing, another where he throws his socks into a bathroom next to a recent victim or putting his feet up on the bed to avoid blood on his boots. Like a human colossus or Terminator on speed. This is a grand achievement to play such a man void of morals with his own weird warped take on things. That pressurized air canister thing that he has was certainly ingenious and bloody dangerous. Oh and that Silenced shotgun, that was one powerful mother of a gun. Anyone believe in Karma? Well wait till near the end and you will see.

Tommy Lee Jones: Sheriff Ed Tom Bell. Not a big role for Tom yet an important one. He's always one step behind the story yet comes so close.

Kelly Macdonald: Carla Jean Moss. Recognized her easily, didn't see anything new in her acting apart from the accent.

There was so many great scenes in this. The tension, the sounds, the beats, the uses of silence all are definately used to perfection. Had me jumping on numerous occasions and that part with Anton waiting for his pursuer after finding the transmitter was amazingly shocking.

Without a doubt this film has you on the edge of your seat. The audience i saw this with didn't appreciate it. They didn't see the bigger picture, the gritty realism, the beautiful poetry of that ending and if you see the words in that finale, allow them to sink in, then truly it will blow you away.

Best film of 2007-2008 I've seen to date. The level of acting and vision is unsurpassed, and it will draw you in and stay with you. Definitely want to watch again and again, there's so much crammed in this. You will soak it up like a sponge.

    A masterpiece. Unrivaled.

An astonishing movie with stunning acting from all quarters, memorable dialogue and wonderful cinematography and sound. Plot is slightly too open-ended for my personal liking.

I would watch it again....THE ENDING WAS BAAAAD with tommy lee jones....if they would have cut that out i would be better...In my opinoin he is not the best actor always kinda acts and sounds the same

Slow-paced, grusome, and suspenceful! Chigurh=Fate!! It is by Fate that we all die eventually. For me the story was allegorical. Brolin and Macdonald represent youth and want to beat fate. The Mexican gang represents people who try to compete with fate, but are sad wannabes. Root, the bureaucrat, tries to manage things with the gang and by hiring Harrelson. Harrelson represents some Jesus figure (in the white cowboy hat). Jones is the old man of the title struggling with memories of his father and realizing that he has out-lived him. How Jones had such a close brush with fate and lived is the question! A more recent thought I had is that Jones and Harrelson never have a scene together. Jones even speaks cryptically once about not finding religion or God, yet he is a law enforcement officer. This movie provides so much to think about!

Excellent movie. A brilliant adaptation from Cormac McCarthy's novel with the unique touch of the Coen brothers. Its a film full of action, drama, suspense and some of the characteristic Coen Black humor, a journey full of tension that will keep you on the edge of your seat for two hours. It has a very interesting story about a Vietnam veteran who finds a bag with two million dollars, this situation unleashes a persecution between the veteran and a psycho killer looking for the money and a investigation of the local sheriff. The cast is simply wonderful, Josh Brolin gives a perfect acting as Llewelyn Moss, Javier Bardem's flawless performance earned him a Oscar nomination, totally worthy in my opinion. Tommy Lee Jones excellent as always and Woody Harrelson with a brief but very convincing role. Definitely this is one of the best movies of the year and with the Academy awards right around the corner, it has very big chances to become the great winner of the night.

Hmmm...sad to say I found it thoroughly dark...with some dark humor thrown in...Woody Harrelson was memorial as the dudded up "cleaner" hit man hired to hit the psychopathic/drug dealer gone awry.

I haven't seen No Country (yet), but on InfamousHugo's statement: like you say, you don't have to love a film for it to be good. I mean, I didn't particularly enjoy Titanic or The Godfather but they're still great pieces of cinema. Perhaps what other commenters are saying is that they just didn't enjoy it or were bored, not that the film itself is badly made.

Do people really lack intelligence or is it that they absolutely need giant robots to say a film is good ? This film is deep on so many levels, its a masterful piece of art, not some garbage piece of easy entertainment. Go get your brain when you left it last time you used it and try telling me this isnt such a good film. Im not saying you have to love it, but at least you cant deny its a great piece of cinema. By the way, Transformers ISNT. What kind of world do we live in ?

Unfortunately "No Country For Old Men" falls into the "All Hype and No Sizzle Trap". Although it gets kudos for going against the norm as being not like every other plot and character development. For instance, how you think that certain characters would play a main role and there would be some sort of big show down in the end. I myself would have like to seen "Into The Wild" as a contender for "Best Picture" at the Oscars. For the winner it should have been "Atonement".

It was so boring. Fell asleep near the end of the movie or probably 30-40 mins left in the movie. I see the plot of the movie Read the great reviews, but was disappointed half way thru the movie. All I saw in the movie was a guy finding drugs, money and running away from the guy thats after him. I was going like "Whaa...?" 10-15 mins into the movie. The acting was good, but thats about it. This movie was not theater or rental worthy.

Honestly I find it weird when people think the ending didn't end it. I thought it ended fine and everything was finished. He obviously went back and got the money from the hotel. He had to come back after killing Josh Brolin's Character, thats why the guys in the bronco were leaving so fast. He is in there when Tommy Lee Jones comes in, because he was there getting the money.
