His teenaged daughter is an acid-tongued overachiever who follows all too closely in dad's misery-loving footsteps, and his adopted, preposterously ne'er-do-well brother has perfected the art of freeloading. A widower who can't seem to find passion in anything anymore, not even the Victorian literature in which he's an expert, it seems Lawrence is sleepwalking through a very stunted middle age. When his brother shows up unexpectedly for an extended stay at just about the same time as he accidentally encounters his former student, the circumstances cause him to stir from his deep, deep freeze, with often comical, sometimes heartbreaking, consequences for himself and everyone around him.

    Another great performance by Ellen Page! That girl's got so much talent...
    The movie itself, well, it sure has its funny moments! Gloomy and almost boring at times - but I have to say I liked it.

    Average movie, didnt really keep the attention going as it got a little boring and never really seemed to take off. Great performance by Ellen Page once again thou.

    A bit dull. Smart people are boring people. The daughter and the adoptive brother were funny enough to keep me interested.

    Nisam nesto odusevljena filmom. Ocekivala sam puno vise s obzirom na glumce koji su mi inace dragi. Kraj je bio malo ocit (osim one scene sa trudnocom). Drago mi je da sam ga pogledala, dobro je za pogledat kad nemas sta radit uru ipo uz kokice :)
